40th Anniversary of the Falklands War - 'Billy' Walker

Members of the Band of HM Royal Marines Commando Forces Plymouth met on the 21st May 2022 to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands War.

Sadly 8 of the original 37 Veterans have crossed the bar, but it was good to see 22 of the Band that served on-board SS Canberra in 1982 in attendance.

In total, some 40 former members of Commando Forces Band were present at the get-together.

Various toasts were proposed by Lt-Col John Ware OBE BA ARAM RM, former Principal Director of Music Royal Marines and our Boss during the Falklands Campaign. Particularly poignant was when we raised our glasses to 'Absent Friends.'

On the 21st May 1982, we were attacked by Argentine Aircraft, in what was to become known as 'Bomb Alley' It's a day none of us will ever forget.
