- A rehearsal of the massed bands plus Mountbattens Maltese band, for
the coronation concert in the Manoel Theatre 1953. Sir Malcolm Sergeant spent a week or so with us and managed to produce a very fine concert in spite of Rab Cambell's 4th valve continually getting stuck in Rule Britannia! He was a great favourite with all of us, and at one rehearsal when dear old Polly Perkins brought his barbering gear instead of his cornet case the great man agreed to have a trim. |
