Brian 'Jock' Dunn

I would like to share the sad news of the passing of Sgt Bugler Brian Dunn Royal Marines. “Jock Dunn”

My simply marvellous dad, Sgt Brian Dunn passed away on 02-08-26 after battling the gruelling disease that is dementia. We want to remember him for the fabulous Royal, superb father and ever loving husband he was. He is survived by his wife Jillian, my mum, who had 58 wonderful years with him and nursed him at home with me until the very end, the love that he so deserved.

We will be having a wake for dad at the Deal and Betteshanger Rugby club pavilion on the Drill field, on Wednesday 19th August 12.30pm-4.30pm.

If anyone who knew dad would like to attend, please message me on here or privately. All are very welcome.

Dad was a fiercely loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and husband, and a one of a kind Royal Marine, who expected perfection, strove for what was right and helped and believed in many men along the way. He deserves a wonderful send off.

My Dad's early drafts in the Corps included the RM Band Fosni at HMS Condor Arbroath Scotland, HMS Bermuda and an 18 Month draft to 40 Commando Royal Marines which included a 6 month active service tour of Borneo for which he was awarded the General Service Medal with Borneo Clasp. On his return to UK he successfully completed the GD Junior command course at the Commando Training Centre at Lympstone and was promoted to Cpl Bugler on completion. He was then drafted to the Corps of Drums of the Staff Band Royal Marines at Deal.
