Gentlemen,

Lieutenant Iftikhar Ahmed Dar was a member of the RMSM Bandmaster’s Class in the early 1980s before progressing professionally to set up and become Head of a Naval Music Academy in Pakistan. Yesterday I was reunited with him in my home during his visit with family to U.K. A hugely enjoyable occasion. He recalls with pleasure several colleagues and asked in particular to be remembered to Joe Baggs and John Perkins from his time at Deal. He spoke of his respect for others too and had been saddened by the earlier reported death of Alan Rammell his academic tutor in the Theory Rooms.

Iftikhar’s successful career has been mirrored by his daughter Adeeba who having completed dental training in Sweden became silver medalist of her year before coming to work at a Bupa Dental facility in Folkestone. Iiftkhar is immensely grateful to those who surrounded him with care and respect during his brief sojourn in Deal. No one could have been more deserving. On his behalf I sincerely thank you.
