Hi
There Richard,
Thank you for the Email, I am sorry it has taken me a long time to get
back to you but here goes.
Having found the spot on my lung, the powers that be sent me to a hospital
in Northwood where I was made radio active and given a special scan.
The result was the spot on the lung not a problem (more about that later)
but a polyp was found in my bowels and it was recommended that it be
removed. Back to Leicester I went, given an enema a camera was inserted
up my rectum and for the first time in my life I was able to look up
my own backside!! The polyp was subsequently removed, they have a wonderful
name for this whole process.... ENDoscopy the capitals are mine!!. Later
on I received a letter from hospital saying that although the lung spot
was not a worry they would like to remove it on the premise that if
it was benign no damage would be done. On the other hand if it was a
latent slow developing cancer then it would be best out.
In the event it was benign. I came home with the staples in and told
to report to my practice nurse for removal in a week's time. Having
got there I told the nurse I did not feel well and on removing the staples
she dressed the wound and told me to come back at the end of the week
if I was no better, this I did and my own doctor examined me and said
air was getting into my lungs and left it there. On the Saturday my
daughter came to see me and said "Dad I am taking you to hospital".
This she did and as a consequence they drained two litres of fluid from
my lungs. I have had further endoscopy's, it still looks the same up
there!! Finally I have been a diabetic for twenty years or more and
have had laser treatment on the backs of my eyes to stop bleeding which
can occur. This process can, and did, in time cause a loss of lateral
vision. As a result I have had to surrender my driving licence. This
is not a big thing, I have a free bus pass and the bus stop is twenty
paces from my front door in both quick and slow time!! I have to tell
you my hair, finger nails and drinking arm are in the best of health!!!
That is all for now, see you in the counter march,
Peter
