ROYAL MARINES ANNUAL VISIT DRAWS 4,000

On Sunday, 7 August, the Royal Marines Band kept its pledge to return to Walmer and Deal for an annual concert. A crowd, estimated at 4,000 people, thronged Walmer Green to hear them play at the Memorial Bandstand.

The names of the 11 Royal Marines who died in the IRA bombing in 1989 were recalled during a re-dedication service, held as part of a memorable afternoon. (August 13, 2005)
