Herewith the programme details to give you an idea of the musical content yesterday. Such a change from the old days when it was all well known overtures and marches. This is not a criticism - just an observation. Audiences are no longer often elderly people looking to revive their memories of service life common to all. The other huge change these days of course is the use of modern electronics with every player individually ‘miked-up’ with overall control managed from a desk at the rear of the audience space. Conductors wear ear-pieces and the whole is riveting to witness.
Quite exceptional really and well beyond anything I was ever faced with.
